Dior Trafalgar Eyeshadow Palette: Swatches, Review, and Comparisons

Dior has reformulated their quints and released some new color combinations. I picked Trafalgar, which will be perfect for fall.

Trafalgar has a gorgeous red surrounded by soft neutrals.

All of the shades are shimmery, but the brown and red are a satin finish.

Along with the new formula, Dior packaging got a sleek new upgrade.

Old, on the left, are thicker. They also did away with the pretty reflective initials on the front of the compact.

The inside of the compact appears to be the same, with the new Trafalgar on the left. Isn't the Constellation quint from last year amazing? I love the beautiful star embossing.

Now on to the swatch part!
The top two colors are pretty sheer, especially the light pink. The cream color has a bit more pigment, and a lovely golden pink duo chrome effect.

The red, gold, and brown are the real stars of this palette. They have a wonderfully soft texture and full pigment in a swipe.

Here are a couple comparisons:

The red in Marc Jacons The Siren is warmer and more sheer. The gold is lighter, warmer, and more reflective than Dior's gold color.

The gold in Chanel Topkapi has more shimmer and is lighter. The light brown in Topkapi is more cool toned and lighter than the Dior brown. The dark brown in Topkapi is deeper and more matte than the Dior.

I am very pleased with Dior Trafalgar. I will be using the gorgeous red a lot for fall, and the other colors compliment it perfectly!

Chanel Poesie Les 4 Ombres : Swatches and Review

Warming: this is a tale of first love and loss. Hearts will be broken.
To begin, we have a lovely, neutral Chanel beauty, named Poesie.

Poesie has a natural glow and a wonderful shimmering aura.

Just look at how her beauty magnifies in the sunlight:

Editor's note: Poesie is one of the newly formulated quads that Chanel just released. It is limited edition and available at Nordstrom locations. When I swatch it, the shadow is soft and pigmented. The shimmer is gorgeous and complex!

Here are some similar quads:

Tom Ford Enchanted is more pink and sparkly. The deep shade is warmer and more reddish than the dark shade in Poesie.

Guerlain Bal de Minuit is more grey toned. The deep shades are similar, but the Guerlain has more brown.

Now on to the tale of heartbreak.....

When I used Poesie on my eyes, the complexity was lost. It was all shimmer with very little color. It emphasized my lines and was not flattering in any way.

I am pretty disappointed with Poesie, and I have no plans to explore this formula any further. I was hoping it would be similar to the Chanel holiday quads like Topkapi and Harmonie du Soir, but this formula failed to deliver.

Too Faced Country Star La Creme Lipstick: Swatches and Review

Too faced released a new color of La Creme lipstick, and I think it will be a crowd pleaser.

Country Star is a light glossy peach with no shimmer.

It is actually much glossier than my other La Creme colors.

Here are a few other colors for reference:

Nude Beach is pinker. Juicy Melons is brighter and more coral.
I also threw in a couple of my other favorite peaches for comparison.
On the lips, Country Star is a light nude peach that doesn't wash out my complexion. I think the glossiness will help it look flattering on many different skin tones.

Overall, Country Star is a huge hit!

Monochromatic Mauve Look

I think mauve gets a bad rap sometimes. It is one of my favorite colors to use on my face, so here is a look with all of the mauve.

I used the Chanel Berry-Rose Duo on the eyes and deepened the crease with Chanel Magic Night. Chanel Innocence blush is the cheek color, and Chanel Confidence Rouge Coco Shine is my lip color. I guess I was on a Chanel kick for this look.
